The start
A chemist and engineer, a visionary, a spirits expert, a marketer, and a professor started this company in a Dallas warehouse with a shrink sleeve machine they didn't even own yet.John and Steven met in the EMBA program at SMU, the idea came together between exams. Their professor, John Terry, liked it enough to join as COO and CFO. Jody, John's former boss with 30 years in the industry, came next. Tatiana, running her own agency with Toucan as a client, joined as CMO after exiting.Five people. One patent between two of them, and a dream that became TOUCAN.

The Problem We Saw
Most people assume every canned cocktail tastes the same: fine, a little flat, good enough for a backyard afternoon. That's because most canned cocktails are premixed. The spirit and the sugar go into the can together, and the moment they touch, they start reacting. Steven, our co-founder, is a biochemist. He'll tell you it's a real chemical reaction, not a metaphor. A canned cocktail should taste like it was made five minutes ago, not five months ago. That’s how our patented two-can shaker was born.

The result
Less than two years later, and we’re now on shelves in 17 states and over 4,000 stores. We're not alone in that warehouse anymore. Part of that is the team that showed up behind the scenes to help build it. The bigger part is everyone who picked up a can, wasn't sure what to expect from a cocktail in a can, and tried it anyway. That's the reason we're still growing, not because we said our cocktail was better, but because people tasted it and agreed. Thank you for saying yes.
